Your MC - Curtis Watt
Curtis Watt is a Liverpool born and based performance poet. Curtis has toured and performed in many parts of Merseyside as well as national and international work over the last 13 years. Curtis has also delivered rap sets and poetry performances at many city centre venues and is a talented and witty MC. Curtis also plays djembi which was taught to him by an authentic south African shaman.

Maureen is a professional Middle Eastern dancer and teacher based in the midlands. She is a published writer who is interested in dance anthropology and history. Read some of Maureens articles.
Maureen is also interested in black history and Flamenco dancing which she also performs. She has recently created a fusion between Arabic and Flamenco dance She is a soulful and deep dancer. Her analysis and performance is influenced by social theories , black and women’s studies.
Guinevere

The Awalem dance group
Comprises of a number of likeminded women who have come together to enjoy, dance, choreograph and perform egyptian dance. The main ethos of the group is enjoyment and fun and to be constantly learning. We use many different mediums to portray our dance from swords, sticks, zills,drums. veils, wings, and many more. We are always open to new ideas and to learning new skills to enhance our dance .
