Judith Laura

Judith Laura

Judith Laura is an author, poet, and digital artist. She guesses she was one of the first to intuit a relationship between belly dance and Goddess traditions, as shown in her "Self-Blessing Belly Dance," which appeared in the journal SageWoman in the early 1980s. This piece, as well as other uses of Middle Eastern and Eastern European dance forms, are included in her first book,  She Lives! The Return of Our Great Mother (1989, 1999). Her other books include Goddess Spirituality for the 21st Century (1997), and two novels, the most recent of which, Beyond All Desiring (2005), won several awards.

Her poetry has been widely published in journals and anthologies. Examples of poems inspired by folk dances can be seen on the e-journal Poemeleon at http://www.poemeleon.org/judith-laura.  She has a website at http://www.judithlaura.com/ and blogs as Medusa on http://medusacoils.blogspot.com/.

Her digital art, which includes pieces inspired by the Nag Hammadi scripture, "Thunder, Perfect Mind" (and includes a belly dancer), as well as portrayals of Mary Magdalene and the Goddess Asherah, can be found on http://cafepress.com/judithlaura and http://zazzle.com/judithlaura.

Cyrus Issac

Cyrus Issac

Cyrus Issac is an aspiring tortured poet of the post-modern British generation, composing my verses by the old fashioned methodology of a pen and paper- now that’s antiquated in the virtual paperless digital age…

"My roots lie in the crashing wonder of Coleridge and Byron, the beauty of Blake and the prosaic killing-fields of Auden, with a note of admiration to Wordsworth, Kipling (the genius), Yeats & of course the brilliant Poe..."

I find him a stimulating, interesting and charming conversationalist and social commentator.

The New Zealand Ishtar

- Meet my 'sister' form the other side of the word she is cool!

Ishtar's Dance Philosophy - be an improvised dancer first and than be able to dance to a choreography second.  A good dancer should be able to dance to music you have never heard before and allow the music and the body to become one.  The music will stir the body and emotions to intuit movements that compliment the rhythyms, and individual instruments of the song.  Each dancer is special and should be encouraged to develop their own style and to celebrate and enjoy individuality.  This is something Bellydance is wonderful for.

My personal opinion is 'Dance with passion from your heart and let your body sing to the music".

Ishtar is always happy to dance for the community and charity shows.  Send her an email if you wish for her to dance for your show to help fund raise for charity or for any worthy community event.
