I am a Yemeni/Arab who came to the UK in 1971 at the age of 5.
I am a daughter, a mother and a wife
God and Islam is what I follow!
It's been my guide and without it my life would have been hollow.
I highlight about culture and religion, combine and separate,
Right and wrong, together, we must differentiate
I have travelled and seen with my own eyes
The pain people inflict on their loved ones lives
Cousins marrying cousins
Arranged, suggested or blackmailed.
Mine was the above until I woke up, jumped in my mindboat and sailed.
I express the truth, the hidden lies,
No more will this happen,
Not in my loved ones lives,
For some of you people in my community,
Cut the crap,
Accusations of being "WESTERNISED"
Why should we have to suffer
In order to find happiness second time round.

I have performed at gigs and charity events, had poems published in a book by "dead good poets society", taken part in The British Heritage "memory box" and exhibited at the Blackie in Liverpool. I am also a freelance advocate for culture and religious awareness.
