NOTE-If you can not attend a class,you may make up your lesson by attending any of the other classes within the ten week period. So if you pay for ten weeks we will try our best for you to attend ten sessions.

(Yoga classes are great for flexibility and include time for breathing exercies, relaxation and meditation. Perfect for performers and Bellydancers - become more flexible, achieve back bends, and make your moves flow. Good also for stamina and focus, general health and flexibility.)
Ishtar's Bellydance Class Information
All classes must be booked a deposit of £5 pays for your taster and is deducted off the fee.
"Bellydance classes are all one hour long. They consist of technique, flexibility exercise, choreography, and trance dance, floor work, dancing with props (Zills, veil and canes).The classes inlude a variety of syles including Egyptian,Turkish ,Bollywood fusion,gothic.Cabaret and healing dance. Occasionally, there is meditation and visualisation. There is a really warm, inclusive, non-judgemental and friendly atmosphere in the classes.
I believe people learn better in an encouraging and friendly environment. As I am also a psychology teacher, I understand how to use relevant teaching methods to create maximum absorption and retention of dance information. With twelve years experience as a professional bellydancer, I can help students to attain a very professional level.
My Nana ‘Little Supple' was a professional dancer with her own school. She made a lot of interesting and artistic developments in dance. I learnt my first dance moves from her."

What to wear?
Please look at the picture of the class above. It really is up to you but these outfits are typical.
Am I too old/fat/thin to bellydance?
NO! Bellydancers are all shapes and sizes. Bellydance is for women of all ages, nationalities and sexualities. I teach children from age 8.
Will it help me lose weight?
Like all aerobic exercise it can help you burn around 500 calories an hour. My classes are designed to have aerobic benefits.
Will it help me tone up?
Yes ! If you keep at it ! My classes also include stretching and stamina exercises.
How long will it take me to learn?
How long is a piece of string? It depends on how often you come to class, and how often you practise. If you use the Arabesque Video between classes this will greatly enhance your learning - please go to the shop (link above) to purchase. I have seen people performing after only six months and looking lovely.
I have health/mobility problem can I do bellydance?
Please ask a health professional if you have any health concerns. Bellydance can help alleviate a wide variety of mental and physical health problems.
Can men join?
Sorry, no - classes are for women only.
Men are welcome at shows and certain workshops or for serious dancers only (see private classes info below).
I want to come to a bellydance class but I feel shy and insecure.
Please don’t worry, bellydance makes people feel much more confident. My classes are filled with nice, friendly women who will make you welcome.
